Blogging seems to have become increasingly popular. Perhaps coinciding with the rise of the reality TV genre, it seems there is a growing interest in reading more and more about other people's lives and their views. Blogging has become so popular in fact that it is now used by businesses across the globe to reach out to their [potential] customer base and make a connection.
Web logs, or blogs, originated as newsgroups or personal online diaries. Today, blogs tend to take a similar format of displaying text, images and links, and occasionally also sounds or videos. They may be focused on a specific topic or genre, or continue the diary format of some of their predecessors, telling the tales of their author to anybody prepared to read. Blogs have become popular among companies and individuals and to date well over 100 million of them are known to exist across the internet, with more springing up every day.
This blog is my own addition to the statistic. In the future, it will offer my own musings on life, literature, music, film, business and anything else that springs to mind that I feel so inclined to write about. At present I have no idea who would want to read it, or why, but since I'm writing it more for myself than anything, that isn't a major concern. Now all I need to do is come up with something worth writing!
